About Shade Today Landscaping and Nursery, Inc.

History

Shade Today Nursery, Inc. was started as a hobby in 1977 by Mel and Beattie Baeten at the corner of State Park Road and Hwy KK in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Mel began by moving trees with a spade truck in his spare time, but this hobby soon progressed into a full-time tree nursery business. In 1996, Mel formed a partnership with his son Dale. Two years later, Dale and his wife Donna purchased the company and took over the business.

Shade Today Expansion

Dale and Donna began expanding Shade Today in 1999 with the opening of a new Garden Center on Hwy 41, outside Little Chute. The Appleton location later became known as "Home of the 41 Waterfall." Further expansions in 2000 included the opening of another Garden Center in Kaukauna, down the road from the original Shade Today Nursery, Inc. location. With business booming for Dale & Donna, they made plans to include landscaping design services as part of the tree nursery and garden center. So in 2001, Shade Today Landscaping, Inc. came into play. With a full service landscaping, nursery and garden center, we decided to construct our display waterfalls that are viewable from Hwy 41. The waterfalls were completely finished and the water began flowing in the spring of 2005.

Shade Today's tree nursery currently has more than 100,000 trees on more than 150 acres with lowest prices. (See store for details)
In the spring of 2008, we added annuals to our product line.
